TATJANA WINTER
nervous system & breathwork expert
my story
From venture capital investments to nervous system regulation. From power points to breathing techniques. From deadlines to taking breaks.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed working in the start-up scene, speaking at conferences, leading innovation projects.

At some point I just had to admit, that I am sacrificing my physical and mental wellbeing to chase a career I wasn't even sure I wanted.
And here is how I turned into a
nervous system expert and breathwork master:
the before
I studied management, did an MBA, worked as a business consultant, joined a start-up as employee no. 3, moved to a corporate VC investing in deep tech and mobility, founded my own boutique agency for innovation and digitization, and finally worked in executive search.

I held keynotes on start-up–corporate collaborations, was a jury member for start-up awards, and placed CHROs in unicorns.

The more conferences, the better. I loved the feeling of being important, and as a woman in the VC industry you get the extra spotlight.
the turning point
The problem: I never really asked myself if that life was for me. I was performing great and everybody else around me lived the same life, so I did not even consider that something wasn’t right.

If I had had the capacity to observe myself, I would have seen signs: bad sleep, feeling anxious and having really bad flight anxiety, having zero patience and lashing out fast, moving away from every question with a tiny bit of depth and the necessity for self-reflection.

A breakup led me to sign up for a retreat I found on Instagram, and that week hit me like a train. I felt like I was missing essential skills to live an authentically and truly content life.
the inbetween
Breathwork became my tool to find out what was really going on inside me. To tap into emotions I was scared to feel consciously. To process past events and to build my future.

I integrated meditation into my daily life, journaling, work with sound, my voice, and somatic movement. I started to pay attention to my health and find out what gives me energy, what drains me.

I took a break from my corporate career and allowed myself to try out different things and jobs I had never considered before. I worked at the front desk of a hotel in Costa Rica, I worked as a yoga teacher, I trained as a systemic coach, and learned emotionally focused therapy.
the after
It took some years to try, fail, learn, and grow. Today I know that my breath is my anchor and the most important tool I have when moving through life.

Calming me down in moments of overwhelm, helping me to not freak out when feeling anxious, softly guiding me into sleep, and energizing me when I need focus and mental clarity.

From the moment I first felt the power of my own breath until today, I am impressed by my own breath. I have gone deep into the science and different breathing modalities, and I am more than happy to share what I know.

why everything leads back to nervous system regulation
When I say nervous system, I mean the autonomic nervous system. It is the control unit in your body that decides whether you feel safe or in danger. Your brain responds to the signals your nervous system sends.

It sends signals to vital functions such as heart rate, breathing, digestion, blood pressure, sleep, hormone release, and immune response.

Understanding your nervous system, the signs it is sending you, and the influence you have over it is key to understanding your wellbeing and health.
